Outschool Brings on Jennifer Wynn as Independent Board Member

Former Director of Education for the Obama Foundation will be joining Outschool's Board of Directors

San Francisco, CA  – June 9, 2022 Outschool is announcing today that Jennifer Wynn has joined the Outschool Board of Directors. Wynn is a professor at NYU, and founder of Wynn Strategies. She is the former Director of Education at the Obama Foundation, where she led a team to design in-person and digital programs across the U.S. for community leadership and active citizenship. Prior to that, she was a manager in McKinsey & Company where she trained top executives globally as a founding team member of McKinsey Academy.

Wynn has been a founding teacher and school leader of a middle school, served as Director of Curriculum Management for a large charter school network, and developed courses for MBA students at NYU Stern School of Business where she teaches a course called Difficult Conversations. She will bring a great breadth of knowledge across education, strategy and change management to Outschool as an independent board member.

“Joining Outschool’s board was an easy decision for me as we have a true alignment of values. From the outset, the company’s primary mission has been to foster a love of learning, and I truly believe they are poised to transform education. On the platform each individual learner has a path to become their best self while learning in small groups with others from around the U.S. and other countries. This combination of individualized learning and community building is what will be needed to foster the next generation of talent and leaders,” said Jennifer Wynn, Outschool Board member and founder of Wynn Strategies.

Outschool is an innovative education platform that offers a variety of engaging, small-group classes online to set learning free. Unlike traditional classes or passive videos, Outschool gives kids the unique opportunity to explore their interests in-depth with interactive classes taught via live video by experienced, independent teachers and organizations. Named by Fast Company as one of the Most Innovative Companies in 2021 and by Inc. Magazine’s Inc. 5000 as this year’s fastest growing education company, Outschool has expanded its offering domestically and globally.

“When we met Jenn it was such a natural fit for us. She brings a perspective and vision that we think will help carry Outschool into the future. She brings an educator’s perspective and understands the importance of bridge building to achieve change. She is a visionary who sees how traditional ways of doing things in education may not be serving today’s learners. Jenn understands the power of learning experiences outside your zip code and how fast change driven by globalization and technology means we are going to need a much more personalized version of education to foster curiosity, cultivate connections and celebrate individuality,” said Amir Nathoo, CEO of Outschool.
